Cookie Policy

This policy explains how NatterFly uses cookies and similar browser technologies across accounts, chatrooms, groups and other community features.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, phone or other device when you visit a website. They can help a website remember your session, preferences and previous actions.

2. How NatterFly uses cookies

NatterFly currently uses cookies and similar session technologies that are required for account login, session security and the normal operation of the website.

  • Keep you signed in while using NatterFly.
  • Recognise your session between page requests.
  • Protect forms, accounts, chatrooms and groups against misuse.
  • Remember essential account, chatroom, group or website preferences.
  • Allow secure participation in group discussions, polls, events and other member features.
  • Support security, moderation and fraud prevention.

3. Essential cookies

Essential cookies are necessary for features requested by the visitor, such as signing in, maintaining a secure account session, joining groups and submitting content. The website may not work correctly if these cookies are blocked.

Current cookie use NatterFly does not currently use advertising or behavioural tracking cookies. This policy will be updated before analytics, advertising or optional tracking technologies are introduced.

4. Session cookies

A session cookie may be created when you visit or sign in. It allows the website to associate page requests with the same browser session.

This may be necessary when viewing or managing your profile, joining a group, responding to an invitation, posting a discussion, voting in a poll, creating an event or using another member-only feature.

Session cookies normally expire when the browser is closed, although this can depend on browser and account settings.

5. Remember-me cookies

Where a remember-me option is available, a longer-lasting cookie or token may be stored so your browser can recognise your account on a future visit.

Do not use the remember-me option on a shared or public computer.

6. Security cookies and session identifiers

Cookies or similar session identifiers may be used to prevent unauthorised access, protect forms, detect unusual activity and support account security.

These protections may apply when creating or managing chatrooms, groups, discussions, polls, events, albums, invitations and other community content.

7. Group and community preferences

NatterFly may use essential session information or browser storage to remember temporary choices made while using groups and other community features.

This may include the group page or tab you are viewing, form security information, temporary display settings or other preferences required for the feature to work correctly.

Group memberships, ownership, invitations, discussions and other permanent group information are normally stored securely in the NatterFly database rather than inside a browser cookie.

8. Third-party content

NatterFly pages, groups, discussions, events or albums may contain external radio streams, links, embedded media or other third-party content.

Those services may set their own cookies when you visit or interact with them. Their cookies are controlled by the relevant provider and are not managed by NatterFly.

Members and group managers should avoid embedding unnecessary third-party tracking content.

9. Analytics and optional cookies

If NatterFly introduces analytics, advertising, social-media tracking or other non-essential cookies, visitors will be given appropriate information and controls before those cookies are enabled where consent is required.

10. Managing cookies

Most browsers allow you to view, delete or block cookies. These controls are normally found in the browser's privacy or security settings.

Blocking all cookies may prevent you from signing in, joining or managing groups, submitting discussions, voting in polls, creating events or using other NatterFly features.

11. Changes to this policy

This Cookie Policy may be updated if NatterFly begins using new cookies, browser storage, community features, services or technologies.
